Sepia Films is an independent film and television production company based in Vancouver and Los Angeles, led by Co-CEOs Tina Pehme and Kim Roberts. Since 2003, we have built an international approach to filmmaking, developing and producing stories designed to resonate across borders. We build projects from the ground up, combining the agility of a close-knit team with a trusted network of filmmakers, artists, financiers, and production partners around the world. From first idea through production and delivery, we create the conditions for ambitious work to reach the screen without losing what made it special in the first place.
International co-production is at the heart of Sepia. Rather than applying a single model to every production, we build the right partnership around each story, bringing together creative talent, financing, infrastructure, and local expertise across territories. Sepia has produced and filmed around the world, with projects and partnerships spanning Canada, the United States, Ireland, England, Italy, Denmark, India, China, South Africa, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, and beyond.
Based on L.R. Wright’s Edgar Award-winning novels, the series follows a big-city detective who relocates to the picturesque coastal community of Gibsons, British Columbia, where he finds both a new life and a steady stream of murders. The series has earned strong recognition with international audiences, where it reached the Top 10 on Netflix in both the UK and Australia; now headed to Netflix in the US. MURDER IN A SMALL TOWN’s third season wrapped filming in June 2026 and is set to premiere in February 2027.
Sepia projects have been distributed and presented by partners including Walt Disney Studios, Netflix, HBO, NBCUniversal, 20th Century Studios, Warner Bros., Lionsgate Canada, FOX, and Hulu.
Our work has premiered at leading festivals including Sundance, TIFF, SXSW, Tribeca, New York Film Festival and more. Recent highlights include THE HOBBY, which had its world premiere at SXSW in 2024, and THE LIGHTKEEPER, directed by Sepia founder Vic Sarin and starring Dominic Cooper, Sarah Gadon, Aidan Quinn, and Sarah Bolger.
Tina Pehme is Co-CEO and Producer at Sepia Films, where she has spent more than two decades building international film and television projects across borders. A specialist in international co-production, Tina has forged creative and financing partnerships throughout Canada, the United States, Ireland, England, Argentina, Italy, Mexico, Brazil, Norway, and India, developing a production model that brings together the right creative, financial, and distribution partners for each project. She is an executive producer of Sepia’s acclaimed mystery series MURDER IN A SMALL TOWN, starring Rossif Sutherland and Kristin Kreuk, and played an integral role in bringing the project from adaptation through production and its sale to FOX.
Her feature credits include A SHINE OF RAINBOWS, THE GAMES MAKER, IN THEIR SKIN, and the upcoming film THE LIGHTKEEPER directed by Vic Sarin and starring Dominic Cooper, Sarah Gadon, Aidan Quinn, and Sarah Bolger.
Across film and television, Tina’s work is driven by the same instinct: find extraordinary stories, surround them with the right collaborators, and build a path for them to reach audiences around the world.
Kim Roberts is Co-CEO and Producer at Sepia Films, bringing more than two decades of experience across entertainment law, production, and international co-production.
Before joining Sepia full time, Kim was a partner at the boutique law firm Roberts & Stahl, where he advised on a wide range of film and television projects.
Today, he oversees Sepia’s development agreements, co-production partnerships, project financing, and production legal, playing a key role in shaping the company’s global slate from early development through delivery.
Drawn increasingly to the creative side of filmmaking, Kim made the transition from legal practice to producing in order to work more closely with filmmakers and collaborators who share a passion for bold storytelling and thoughtful craft.
Known for his calm approach and sharp instincts, he balances creative ambition with practical execution.
He is also, unofficially, the company’s resident mixologist.
Vic Sarin is the Founder and a Director at Sepia Films, with a career spanning more than 100 films as a director and cinematographer.
Renowned for his visual storytelling and emotional depth, Vic’s work includes award-winning documentaries and feature films that have been recognized with Emmys, Canadian Screen Awards, and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Directors Guild of Canada.
A deeply intuitive visual artist, Vic brings a filmmaker’s eye and a storyteller’s heart to every project. His work is defined by its humanity, striking imagery, and an ability to reveal emotional truth through carefully crafted cinematic language.
Vic’s passion for cinema began in childhood, watching films through a small hole in the ceiling of a theatre managed by his father.
Decades later, that early fascination continues to inform his work, as his curiosity and imagination remain central to the stories he helps bring to life.

Prior to joining Sepia Films in 2018, Jared worked at Atomic Cartoons, Sony Pictures Imageworks, and Titmouse Animation. Jared enjoys the challenging “jigsaw puzzle” of film financing and also loves watching cartoons with his kids.
